We, representing ourselves personally, from university and college educators, researchers, and activists from Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam:

Mindful of the existence of mutual interest among university and college educators, researchers, and activists and convinced of the need to strengthen cooperation in developing sustainable agriculture, food and energy in Asia Pacific.

Desiring a firm foundation for mutual collaboration with the spirit of equity and partnership and thereby contribute towards sustainable development in Asia Pacific region.

Concious that the capacity of the scientific community to address major sustainability challenges in agriculture, food and energy and to enrich people produce a better economy, ecology, and equity in agriculture, food and energy system need to be increased.

Affirming that educators, researchers, and activist in Asia Pacific have responsibility for the future of a better world.

DO HEREBY DECLARE:

FIRST: The  establishment of networking on sustainable agriculture, food and energy for university and college educators, researchers, and activists in Asia Pacific to be known as SAFE-Network.

SECOND: The mission of SAFE-Network is to collaborate in connecting  and educating people for a better economy, ecology, and equity in agriculture, food and energy system in Asia Pacific.

THIRD: The objectives of SAFE-Network shall be to

  • increase the capacity of the scientific community to address major sustainable challenges in agriculture, food and energy
  • increase the capacity of the scientific community to enrich people through programs, services, and support that help them to increase their capacity to produce a better economy, ecology, and equity in agriculture, food and energy system.

FOURTH: The activities of SAFE-Network shall to be :

  • provide annual workshop and conference under the theme of sustainable agriculture, food and energy
  • publish an International Journal in sustainable agriculture, food and energy
  • enables scholars to collaborate more effectively in applying an International/ regional research grant
  • provide exchange scholars/lecturers between members
  • provide programs, services and support to help people increase their capacity to produce a better economy, ecology, and equity in agriculture, food and energy system.

FIFTH: that to carry out the activities, SAFE-Network establish relevant Working Group (WG):

  • WG1- Sustainable Agriculture
  • WG2-Food Technology and Sustainable Nutrition
  • WG3- Sustainable Energy
  • WG4- Extention, Community Development and Scientific Communication

SIXTH: that SAFE-Network is open for participation to all university and college educators, researchers, and activists in Asia Pacific countries.
